VBAC QUESTIONS

Anyone who has had a previous VBAC able to help with these questions please. - when you think your labour has started is it suggested to go straight to the hospital instead of waiting? - after a VBAC do you have to stay in afterwards? - did you have a water birth for you VBAC if so how did it go? - any recommendations for anything?

Following!

I had a VBAC.. my preference was also for a water birth. I did have to have additional conversations with consultants and midwifes and sign a waiver to say I was deciding to go against hospital policy, this was because the birthing pool was in the midwife led birthing unit only, some hospitals have a pool on the obstetrics ward. However fairly quickly in to contractions I decided i wanted an epidural 😂 You wait at home (although do speak with your midwife as other than the previous c section I had no other risk factors). When I got to the hospital I was 4 centimeters and progressed extremely quickly after. Staying in will depend on how your birth goes this time. They don't keep you in purely because of the previous section. I didn't get the epidural due to how quickly I progressed, I gave birth at 22.15 and went home the following morning. This would have been longer if I'd had the epidural or intervention of some sort. It will all be personal to you! Definitely chat with your midwife :) Good luck!!

@Nicole thank you that’s really helpful
