1. Nothing, I just got cozy with a movie, food, acupressure from partner, gentle movement on my birth ball, then slept 2. I'd heard of the "ring of fire" but hadn't heard anyone mention feeling their clitoris stretch/tear 3. I had everything I needed at the time. My partner, midwife, tens machine and the birth pool. During contractions, I managed with breathing and back rubs. When I transitioned my partner was helping me visualise our future with our girl and that was incredible. For my second, I'd love to include a doula and birth at home instead. Unless there is an emergency, I never want to see a doctor
The pressure is like nothing you ever experienced before. And a little bloody show is a good thing not bad
I had the worst pain in my bum throughout the whole experience! People had mentioned that it felt like needing the loo but my goodness it felt never ending. I was left without drugs for 7 hours as the doctors were unaware I was there (?!) and there was noone available to prescribe or dispense it!
I didn’t Google anything before my labor but something I was not prepared for was being so damn TIRED. I had to have an emergency c section and was falling asleep during it because I had been in labor from 12:30am-9:30 pm when we decided to do the c section because my daughters heart rate was 185 and mines 160 while I ran a low fever. I was so hungry, tired, and sad. I wish we had had the baby by ourselves because I felt so vulnerable. I wish it was me my man and my mom only tbh.
@joanna That is awesome! Thank you for sharing 💕. Has & Air was not told to me as an option I definitely wish I knew about it to help with being more present with the movement & pushing. Hypnobirthing was something I found out about later and i wish I had more time to learn and utilize it too!
@Alysse pressure was SERIOUS!! Thank you for sharing. Bloody show is for sure a scare when you see it but actually a great sign!
@Jade Wow! I’m sorry that was your experience. But you are a powerhouse to make it through that on top! 🎉 may I ask if your babe positioning had anything to do with the pain?
@Espy You did amazing. Regardless of the how you did amazing! Being tired during labor is no joke. It was so hard to rest while my labour was escalating. I appreciate you sharing this with me.
@Chris WOW!! This is so cool… I’m so happy you were able to experience that experience in such a beautiful sacred way. You did awesome! & shout out to your partner definitely deserves an award 🥇. That is so beautiful. I’m not going to lie I clinched up when I read about the tearing/stretching. But definitely something to look more into comfort positions to minimize the stretch.
@Keya (Doula) gold star for him for sure! Just over four hours of back rubs 😂😂 And thank you for your comment, I feel so seen! I think I went in feeling so capable since I'd seen my mother have 3 homebirths/freebirths, so I know what women are capable of. That made a massive difference going into my own labour Yeah I was so shocked when I felt it! I thought all the burning/tearing sensation would be down in my perineum, but I only felt it in my clitoris?? Oh! And the other thing no one told me, was the going down then back up feeling while they're descending. I was starting to get a bit in my head about it all, but now I know it's so normal
@Keya (Doula) hi. Definitely positional. I also didn't want to give birth on my back but I felt paralysed. I'm sure my little ones sleep issues stem from having a sore head because of this. I took him to an osteopath which he loved bless him.
1. Can’t remember specifically, but probably something unrelated as I went into labour a week and 2 days early and the day before was Christmas Day. 2. That I needed to specifically say “I want gas and air” to get it. I think it was a combination of me being a bit British and polite and not wanting to be demanding and the midwives not wanting to give too much pain relief too soon. Also, that while it’s common for active labour to be long, it can be very fast. 3. I wish I had done hypnobirthing, this was a job for between Christmas and due date, so got a bit caught out. I also think our midwife wasn’t overly experienced and if I’m lucky enough to have another baby, I’d want one that’s a bit more experienced. Other than that, my husband was amazing and we were overall very happy with how everything went.
