You have to be so compassionate to work in health care! People have so many emotional needs tied to their care
@Jadie im just a housekeeper. But I work in residential facilities. So we get to form a different and more personal relationship with the clients then the clinical and medical staff do.
I hate that. It’s so sad when people choose not to be there for their dying family member. My mom was in the hospital in a room next to a lady who unfortunately died alone because her loved one temporarily left & I remember hearing the loved one crying on the phone in the waiting room really upset that nobody was there with the lady.
So heartbreaking!
This is exactly how I felt working in a nursing home. I ended up leaving and working for the airport because the pain was unbearable and I was pregnant so the emotions was alot. It’s so sad creating these close bonds with people and the next day they can be gone. Especially the ones that would give me things for the baby 🥺💔so now I think of them every time he puts it on and it makes me sad all over again
@SquishyMommy1 I would imagine! I’m sure the patients appreciate having you there !
Off topic…did you make a new profile?!
@ALI nope!
Whilst this is very sad there sometimes are reasons for them having no family visit. One day my mum will be in a home and she’ll be in the same situation you describe as my siblings and I don’t have a relationship with her, she is a narcissist and I spent years in counselling. I’ve no doubt when that time comes that she will easily portray the sweet old lady and we’ll be the family that don’t visit but sometimes there is a very good and valid reason.
While it is sad, dying is also a fact of life and for some it certainly brings peace. Sounds like she is better off not seeing her family if they truly don't care and having the staff for comfort and showing her love in her final days 💙
