What counts as reduced movements??

Hey ladies, I’m 32 weeks today and I’ve been a bit worried the last 24 to 48 hours as I haven’t really had any big kicks or big movements from baby… i have been pretty busy during the day so sometimes I don’t feel too much but baby is normally active during the night, but the last two days, not so much. I am experiencing small movements but not the same as the big kicks that I have had previously. Do you think this counts as reduced movements and I should call the maternity Triage? I would hate to be a bother to anyone but also want to make sure everything is okay. What would you do? Xx

Any change of pattern also counts as reason to contact your triage unit. I was told off a few weeks back for saying “I’ve not have any reduced movement but she isn’t kicking as hard as she normally does” because I didn’t call them thinking it was fine 😅 she was all good, just tired from being active all day. But always best to get it checked if you aren’t comfortable with babies movement in any way

If you're in doubt I'd deffo go in and get checked. Just for peace of mind.

Anything that counts as less than what you'd expect for your baby's normal movements (which it sounds like is what you're experiencing) is absolutely worth a call, they may tell you it's fine, they may tell you to go in, but it's better safe than sorry. Only you know your baby's movement patterns and can tell when something feels off, and the fact you're even noticing to question it says it's worth checking on them. I had the same thing this week (also at the 32 weeks point), baby just didn't move overnight and is really active normally, so I went in and they checked us over. Better to be paranoid than not! Xx

You should always call triage if you’re ever concerned. They’d rather you came and seen them and it was nothing! Please call them and get some advice 🥰

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate your help and support… I will give them a call shortly and see what they say!! Xx

They'd far rather see you a hundred times and everything be fine, rather than you delaying calling and something being wrong!

I went in after a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. Turned out everything was fine - baby was just tired after I had been quite active the previous couple of days. They said it’s always better to come in and check! ❤️

My baby tends to have super active days followed by really quiet days. I leave it a few hours (while paying extra attention) and if I’m still not happy I call the labour triage & go up for monitoring. Always helps. Today I had a follow up scan and got a big thumbs up from baby lol 😂 I swear she’s thinking “haha, fooled you again 😂 “

Thanks everyone… I ended up going to the maternity triage yesterday afternoon… they were brilliant. Did all my vitals and popped me on a monitor for 40 mins. At first baby was pretty quiet (but strong heartbeat) and then baby woke up, making lots of movements, big and small!! Think bubba is just having a lazy bank holiday weekend xx

I had a wobble at 30 weeks and thought the baby had issues ..I think around 30+ weeks there is less room in the womb and also they are mostly just growing at that point so it prob takes a lot of energy and bigger sleeps… my check up was fine and heart beat strong. Also there’s nothing wrong with having a gentle little prod around or having something sweet and cold to wake them up and check if you’re in a panic . I think my issue was also the baby was on a different Timezone and I was doing twice as much excercise a day etc..

Also the baby has longer sleep cycles as the pregnancy progresses…
