I was told by my midwife you can collected throughout the day and then syringe at the end of each day and freeze, I’d maybe get a sanitised beaker or something to put it in and collect from that :)
You can collect throughout the day and then freeze. I'm collecting straight into a syringe and it's always tiny amounts and it would take me forever if I wanted to fill a syringe in one go @Julia you've been producing it for months, it's just that not everyone finds it easy to express it (it also takes a bit of learning and practice) x
@Paulina I am so frustrated with it, I try I watch videos and still nothing 🥺
You can add it within 24 hours but have to make sure it's the same temp when you mix it.
@Sarah oh that’s good to know
My midwife and maternity care assistant both said that each collection needs to go into different syringes for hygiene and bacteria, I was given a lot of syringes and told to ask for more if I needed it x
@Ebony https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/breastfeeding-information/continuing-the-breastfeeding-journey/expressing-and-storing-breastmilk/
You can keep it at room temp for 4-6 hours. I only expressed once a day and didn't really get a lot until 38 weeks last time But I've already got milk there now at nearly 35 weeks but I only stopped breast feeding 11 months ago.
Just a note, idk if you plan on hand expressing or pumping but if you do use a pump you may find you don’t harvest as much as it is quite thick and gets stuck easily x
@Hannah I managed about 0.6ml from both boobs using a pump just want to know if I can top it up on my next go so I have a full syringe
My midwife said to do it separated. However I’m not producing any yet, just a little amount that just makes my fingers wet and that’s it!
