Menstrual cup help!

Okay this is my first cycle where I started using a menstrual cup and I'm just wondering if the learning curve is really this steep?! I know I'm having trouble placing it because Im experiencing leaking sometimes, and I can definitely feel it which I know I'm not supposed to. Overall, it's made an annoying time more miserable. I feel like I'm doing surgery every time I try to place it... Like it can't be that difficult.. Any tips?

Using the punch fold method and opening the cup up before the pubic bone has helped me. I also use a cup that has a ring instead of the sting and it makes inserting and taking out way easier. Practicing in the shower too

Omg using a menstrual cup has changed my life-keep trying! lol I try to get it as deep as possible before I let it pop open. Then I grab the string and try to rotate the cup; if it spins easily I know it’s deep enough. I almost always change mine in the shower to make cleanup easier. You’ll get better at it with practice.

If you still feel it, it isn’t far enough in. I liked the flex, but stopped using because I didn’t want to keep buying it since they were disposable. Then I got the cup with the string and never turned back. If i didn’t have one still, or lost my current one, I’d get a flex again since they now make a reusable one.

I personally could never get the menstrual cup to fit right or be comfortable so I switched to the menstrual disc and I love it. If you find yourself continuing to struggle give the disc a try. I think it's much easier to place correctly and you can wear it for a full day.

If you are using a cup with a string/pull, push one edge of the cup into the other side so you can squeeze it into a smaller size. I like to insert it while sitting on the toilet. Push it in and rotate it so it opens inside. Once you get it past your pubic bone, you don’t usually feel it anymore.

My first cycle I STRUGGLED but it gets easier and is sooo worth it. You can Google the fold videos which really helps (and I will need to again after this baby because no way I'll remember lol)

I would take a break from it while you're on this cycle and practice once you're off your period. I also struggled a lot at first but it was so worth it! I don't deal with pad rash, weird smells, and running out of pads anymore. I also get less cramps. What helped me was to squish it in half, insert, and then gently spin it until it opened. If you tug it at this point you can feel it's suctioned on a bit. If it feels like you have to pee it's not up high enough. Then to remove, pinch it over the toilet so it loses the seal. You've got this!

Did you have vaginal births? I used a menstrual cup for years but after having kids I haven’t been able to find one that fits/seals right 😕
