Moses Basket for Living Room

Hey ladies! Could anyone please recommend a Moses Basket to keep in the Living Room? I don’t know anyone with little ones so I don’t know where to start… Baby girl due beginning of July. I had such a great response on my Next To Me Crib post so looking for some ideas. 🩷 Thank you 🩷

If you have a pram travel system that has a lay flat that is allowed to be used for occasional overnight sleep then you should be able to use that rather than having to buy something separate. Just a thought, that's what I plan to do.

I'm planning to do the exact same as Louise. I'd have the room, but it would just be another thing to buy and store after baby's outgrown it (which will only be a couple of months). But I also know plenty of people who love theirs. A completely personal decision 😊

Personal opinion - my LO was in his Moses basket for 4 weeks and it was a waste of money. We got another next to me crib for downstairs which lasted him until he was 4 months old (we contact nap now after the regression). He's a long boy so outgrew it quickly x

Any Moses basket. They are all pretty much the same.

I bought one from Clair de lune for £50 in their sale, cheaper than getting the carrycot stand. It’s nothing special but should do the job. Luckily in laws live nearby and have a lot of loft space to store once out of it.

I’d also recommend the pram bassinet if you have one, saves buying/storing another thing, and most fit on the universal stands (or some brands have started releasing their own stands). If you do buy a Moses basket I’d say don’t spend too much, as some babies don’t like them and won’t sleep in them 😬 My little girl wouldn’t sleep in her Moses on the stand (but would the pram bassinet in there), but we did find the Moses was a godsend as she wouldn’t sleep in her next to me, but did sleep in there with the Moses placed in it 🤷‍♀️🤣 we think the next to me was a little too big to start with so it made it cosier!

We scrapped the Moses basket and both little ones have had the kinder Kraft lovi, it’s a nice size so they fit in for longer and you can use it for a travel cot too

You can pick them up for peanuts on Facebook, and buy a new mattress. Got ours given to us, not sure if we'll use it yet or the pram bassinet (didn't think about that)

My little one loves her moses basket, does her longest stretches of sleep in there so we use it for over night sleeping too now. We have the little green sheep moses basket (have also gotten many compliments on it).

I had the tommie tippie one then transferred into a cot

Honestly I’d get a cheap second hand one and just get a new mattress. My girl uses her constantly and we also have it inside the next to me at night as she kept waking herself up in the next to me as it felt too big for her BUT she was 4 weeks old yesterday and she’s already about to grow out of it because she’s long so I definitely wouldn’t recommend spending loads on one like we did as they grow so quick x

I had the mamas and papas one.

We got ours from asda. Great for napping during the day and we'd put her in it at bedtime if we wanted to stay up and watch something downstairs. She outgrew it at about 4 months old x

Thank you everyone for your replies 🩷 would anyone recommend one with a rocker stand or just a standard one? X

there’s loads at smyths toy store! we got ours from there quite cheaply. personally found the rocker ones annoying and everytime our baby would move around it would wake him up from the movement. if there’s a next time i’d get a standard one!

We got a standard one as we didn't want our LG to only fall asleep being rocked

@Paige my friend recommended this one to me with a rocker as its a life saver during meal times or times you cannot pick up baby instantly especially after naps The one in my picture has stoppers so it rocks when you want and doesn’t when you slide the stoppers down.

@Jayne could you send me that one please x

I got a Claire De Lune one from Facebook marketplace for £10 and just got a new mattress for it.

@Jayne this is the one I have too :)

I’d personally buy one second hand and get a new mattress to go with it

They are all basically the same so dont need to spend the earth - you can get them for around £50. I would recommend going for the standard ones in case you need a reclined mattress due to reflux. Babys arent in moses for long so its only worth going for the mainstream brands or Amazon xx
