We were open to different ways of education and visited 2 Montessori daycares when we were looking for a spot and both places sent shivers down our spine to be honest.... very strange atmosphere.
Both my boys (3.5 and 2) go to Montessori. We love it! Our school also doesn’t have a cafeteria so we have to pack lunches everyday. Maybe we’re doing it wrong but we don’t really have the Montessori lifestyle at home but our kids still thrive. We plan to keep them there until Kindergarten (when their program ends). If you have specific questions - feel free to message me!
@Jackie it's good to hear that your kids are doing great at their school because we don't really have a Montessori lifestyle either. I've read that it's great for kids who are independent which is great because that's how my son is. I'm worried about him not being fully potty trained and how to navigate that. Do your boys go for a full or half day? Would you recommend one or the other?
My boys go for the full 5 days. I would recommend full days if you can! They also weren’t fully potty trained when they started but the teachers are great and really helped with my oldest. My son plays independently but also can (sort of) play with his brother. I guess they play together as well as you’d expect 2 toddler boys to 😂
My 2 year old daughter is in a Montessori school and loves it! The first week, they started her off with half days to get her used to the routine then switched her to full days 5 days a week. They don’t provide lunch so we have to pack a lunch everyday and just put ice packs in it to keep it cold! My daughter started when she was 18 months not being able to walk and now she’s running and talking non stop! The only thing I would suggest is to try and get the schedule they follow so you can do it at home (lunch time and nap time)
The best advice I heard about montessori is that it's not just the schoold thing. You need to commit to use montessori style parenting at home too for it to actually make a difference. Note my LG does not go to montessori school as unfortunately there isn't one in the town we live in but I would've definitely sent her to one
