i did montessori as a child! the goal is to send my daughter to one when she’s of age
The ones near us that seem amazing, have an incredibly long waitlist LOL we’re looking into Forrest & farm co-op nature school group! (They offer drop ins at every class which is nice)
Mine goes to a montessori nursery and she has a lot of fun there.
We just started a Montesorri for my 2.5 year old and he/we love it so far
I would love to but it's $64k a year where I am... For 3K (wt actual f)
@Mee wow that's crazy. It's only $13k a year here. Which is about how much we would be paying at a regular preschool.
@Mee It’s super expensive and far away from us so definitely not in our budget either. The price tag doesn’t seem worth it for me.
My brothers and I went to Montessori for preschool (the original intention was for us to continue on past that point) and only one of us really did well/thrived in that environment. I later student taught at a Montessori school, specifically for elementary aged children, and 75% of them were behind where they should have been in some categories. I’d say it’s not for high potential/gifted children, but can work well for children that thrive on routine & independence.
My toddler is currently in a Montessori nursery and we absolutely love it! He came home like day 2 saying yes please and no thank you, and it’s soo much more educational than the last ‘normal’ nursery he was at. We’re lucky to be able to afford it
@Erin having experience in both teaching settings why do you think it’s not suited for high potential children?
To the people who love it, what's your favorite part? What drew you to a Montessori school?
I definitely would! My LG only really has Montessori toys bar the odd gift that I’ll obviously let her have. She’s honestly so smart everyone says it about her all the time. My mum works in a nursery and says she’s far more advanced than all the other children her age and the children older than her. She’s amazing at problem solving and loves independent play. I do put a lot of this down to the types of toys she has she never gets bored of them she’s constantly engaged and using different skills x
