First time mum questions

Hi all! I'm 35 weeks now and baby was engaged 2/5 last week at my midwife appointment. Since then, I've been getting an increase of Braxton hicks (frequency, how long they stay for but not pain). I now get a feeling like my bladder is being literally pinched and sometimes when I go to the toilet it feels like my body wants to open up. I can't really explain it - bit like when your bottom gets ready for a big poo but inside me. If that even makes sense? I'm going to for a wee about every 45 minutes or so now too. Basically - what do I need to look out for? What could suggest things are progressing? When do I call in? For context, I have a growth scan tomorrow and seeing my midwife again next Wednesday. Thanks in advance!

Following. I’m in the same boat only difference is that I’m 37 weeks, still very confused x

You will know when you are in labour. I felt exactly the same the first time, but you definitely know, when it’s starting properly.

This is your body starting to prepare itself for labour. When your start getting lots of cramping and pain in lower belly that’s when it’s starting. If you’re engaged the baby is now sitting very low and does not help the bladder at all. It is perfectly normal the pressure your feeling it’s just awful, if going out I don’t drink before a walk with little boy as before might wet myself x

@Melissa fab - so it's the pain and frequency elements that'll come next. Great to know what to look for. It's so hard to not sit and over analyse everything so figured I'd just ask a question lol. Thank you. Yeah, I have to moderate what I drink around what I need to do too... and goodness if I sneeze! Spare pants also come with me everywhere I go now hehe x

@Naomi thanks 🙂

That all sounds like discomfort due to baby's head being quite engaged. Rather than signs of labour. It's quite a different feeling when contractions start
