My little girl was born at 35+5, so not that much more earlier than your little one, and I say she was premature 🙂
Your experience is still valid. Your baby was born prematurely, it’s whatever you feel comfortable saying x
still a premature baby, you’re still allowed to call her a premature baby because that’s exactly what she is. each prem baby varies of course it does, but it’s fine for you to call your preemie a preemie 🫶🏻 like above said, your prem experience is still valid xx
My daughter was born at 36+4 and was classed as 4 weeks premature x
My daughter was born exactly 35 weeks and didn’t have to do nicu time. It was still a different experience having to worry about if she was warm enough and finding clothes that actually fit their tiny body is hard
My little boy was born 36 +6 and was a prem baby if he was born a day later he would of been full term he was definitely a prem baby as he was only 4lb 3oz x
@Fel we were the exact same. Had to keep him so wrapped up and only grew out of newborn at about 9 weeks. Also that's amazing that she didn't need to go the nicu
My baby was born at 28 weeks. I don’t find it upsetting or offensive in any way if someone says the baby was premature if they were born before 37 weeks even if it was 36+6. Your experience is still valid, you had your baby before you expected to and chances are your labour/birth and arrival of baby were not what you had planned. What I experienced in nicu is not the same as anyone else even if they were in nicu for the same amount of time, you can’t compare your journey to others. Just seek solidarity that parenting is bloody hard whatever gestation your baby was born!
@Rachael thankyou so much. I hope your little one is thriving now, that must of been terrifying. We had a scare at about 26 weeks when i got a positive actum partis test but thankfully he stayed in longer but even that was a really scary time.
@chloe she’s 4 and going to school in September, literally nothing wrong with her. You’d never know she was early! ☺️
Babies born before 37 weeks are classed as premature but 36+4 is basically on the cusp looool
