Back to Back baby

Hello 👋 My baby girl is head down but still back to back. Limbs are all at the front poking out still. Also have placenta at the front. My first baby was in the correct position and I had a really fast birth. I’ve heard back to back can have more complications and be slower which I don’t want having had a positive first birth. Has anyone had any good tips from their midwives to encourage baby to turn?

Pregnancy ball!!!! Figure 8

My midwife suggested leaning forwards x

Cat cow yoga pose, sitting on a pregnancy ball, sitting forward as much as you can and sleeping on your left . My first was back to back so for the last few weeks I’ve been trying to make sure this one isn’t 🤞

Have a look at the Spinning Babies website - they have exercises you can do to encourage the baby to move into a more favourable position. Also, bear in mind that there are plenty of positions the baby can be in that aren't OP (occiput posterior - back to back) or OA (occiput anterior - back to front). It might be that your baby is actually in a slightly different position that's a bit more favourable. I found that community midwives mostly care about baby being head down and not much else and they don't do a very good job investigating baby's position x

@Paulina thanks. that’s what I’m feeling like really. I’m going to have a good chat with them when I next see them. I feel like I need to be mentally prepared for things being different and know what they may mean. Especially with my last birth being fast.

My midwife sent me this x https://www.royalberkshire.nhs.uk/media/ykul0pto/biomechanics-for-birth-patient.pdf
