Depression

Is Zoloft safe to take during pregnancy? This will be my first baby and I have been struggling mentally during this pregnancy. I really need this medication, but I’m so scared of harming my baby or my baby having potential issues later when she’s born😢can I please get some advice or other experiences with this medication ?

I was on zoloft my whole first pregnancy with no side effects, the dr won't prescribe you anything that hasn't been deemed safe for pregnancy. Do what you need to for your mental health ❤️

@Sarah awh. i’m so sad. they took me off my anxiety medication and anti depressants ☹️

General rule of thumb is to assess risk vs benefit. If your drs just took you off your meds without providing you some kind of alternative id look for another doctor. There are other anti depression meds like Sertraline that I’ve been told by my dr is on the safer side for pregnancy. I’m still on my meds and my psychiatrist has had no issues with me sticking to it as long as it’s beneficial for me. At the end of the day you need to be able to look after yourself!!

I was on Zoloft with my first and she came out fine and I'm on a higher dose with this one. You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of your baby. Talk to your doctor about all the options and side effects for you and baby. Hope you get to feeling more like yourself soon.

I was taking Zoloft and ended up getting off it just because I didn’t wanna be on it during pregnancy. I asked my doctor if there was any safe medicine to take before getting pregnant. She said that there is no depression medicine that is deemed safe while pregnant however There’s also no indications that it will harm your baby either. They pretty much just said if you need it then you should take it. Obviously you need to consult your own doctor, but that’s what I was told.
