The water struggle! 😩

My daughter is about to be 8 months old. She’s breast fed & also having 3 solid meals a day. She’s been so good at trying new flavours and rarely refuses to eat but this girl does not like to drink anything other than breast milk. I know the importance of fluids once they start having solids and also with the warmer weather coming but she is not a fan at all. I’ve tried tap water, bottled water, different temperatures, different sippy cups, I’ve even given it in a baby bottle but as soon as she realises it’s water so won’t drink it. I’ve even tried diluting juice (against HV advice I know).. she is not in the least bit interested. Does anyone have tips? 😅

maybe some ice pops would help? just a thought just with one of those baby molds and using only water x my 9 month old is the same it also may help with the teething x good for the summer to cool down x

Try a bottle with a straw

@Kitty Good idea, thank you! x

@Anna Didn’t even think of making an ice pop, would be a bonus to help with her teething also as you said. Thank you x

Offer foods like cucumber and watermelon too that have high water content 😃 keep going with it, she will soon see it as the norm with her meals 🤞🏻

@Shelley Thank you, will try those foods also. 😁

Older babies shouldn't get more than 4 oz of water a day. Personally I haven't even tried to give my baby water since there's no nutrition in it it's not important yet. So don't stress mama. Give it time. Maybe by 1st birthday baby will show more interest.
