Breastfeeding

Question for mum’s that already have children and was or still breastfeeding. Do you just breastfeed or you pump milk too ? If you pump how often do you pump ? Do you watch your diet carefully ? Witt my last child I had no appetite or even felt thirsty I had terrible mum guilt that my boy wasn’t getting anything good from me so I stopped breastfeeding. I really want to try it all again and stick to it . But I don’t know if I should get a breast pump like is there any point or just boob is enough ?

I’m currently still breastfeeding my 16 month old. I used a pump in her younger days as we would do night shifts so I’d pump so that my partner could have milk for a bottle. Honestly I found the pump more stressful. When she went through stages of cluster feeding and I couldn’t get any milk with the pump it made me think my supply had suddenly disappeared, and I tried multiple pumps as some just really aren’t great. Different things work for different people but for me personally I wouldn’t bother with a pump again

I found the pump hard to get into the swing of because I felt like my son just always wanted milk so if I had any I just breastfed him directly. I used it much more later on (around 5/6 months) when we introduced a bit of formula so I'd pump when he'd take the bottle. I know people who managed to pump early on though so they could do one big bottle feed of breast milk before bed but I just never seemed to figure out how to time it all! I'm going to try to see if I can work it this time but also not going to put myself under too much pressure. To answer your question though just boob is definitely enough so don't feel like you have to pump!

Yes I breastfed until 14 months. There is advice you shouldnt pump for a certain amount of weeks at first. I had a pump and advice is to pump after the feed so baby has had all the milk I only pumped a few time more towards the 11months in to get the odd bottle in her before I went back to work. I mainly used those milk catcher nipple covers and filled milk bags with then and fed the odd bottle x
