Regression

Hi my 16 month old has been really struggling with sleeping at the moment. Usually she wakes up 1/2 times in the night for a bottle but recently I have been putting her to bed at normal time 6.30/7pm and at midnight she is awake ready for the day. She is nearly walking, learned loads of new words, started singing, learned how to get on and off the sofa so lots of new things going on Is it regression or do you think it’s something else? I am a walking zombie at the moment Last night she went to bed at 6.40pm after having a 2 hour nap from 10am - 12pm. Woke up at 12am and didn’t go back to sleep at all until 11am today for an hour. Do I need to drop naps all together?

I went through this. My boy goes to bed 19:30 sleeps right through to 7/07:30am naps at 10:30 for 2 hours. Where as before hand it was 18:30 bed and awake every 3 hours till morning naps where extremely interrupted. Try extending bed and see if that helps. We also have a night routine that is the exact same every night.

Thats quite an early bed time for a 2 hour nap, I would try capping the nap at 1.5 hours for a few days, you could also push bedtime back to 7.30 but I would try and get the nap later in the day, ie 11.30 or 12 to get a better spread of sleep and awake time x

@Rachel thank you for this. Did he just stop waking up at night because of the change of bedtime?

@CeeCee thanks I will give this a try when she’s back from her dads next week, appreciated

Yes. Literally just stopped waking. He will wake early or through the night if teething but that’s it

@Rachel I’ll give it a try thank you! X
