@Melanie I only need to pump 3x but I cant seem to drop pumps without getting mastitis! Ove had mastitis 5 times and dropped 4 pumps so far sonce he was born. My extra pump is my safety net feed usually and makes my freezer stash grow Iv had a couple of nasty bugs which hit my supply hard at times Initially I had a major oversupply now i make just enough per feed + and extra feed a day I also have high.lipase milk and dodnt know this so baba doesn't exactly enjoy my freezer milk. Although I thought maybe I could use that to my.advantage in getting him to transition to cow milk
I dropped pumps slowly, I dropped one a month until I was only pumping twice and pumping about 6oz a day. Then I pumped every 2-3 days just if I felt like there was milk that needed to come out, but after a couple pumps I stopped and that was the end! Taking sunflower (not soy) lecithin can help prevent blocked ducts. I had a real problem with constantly getting blocks until I started taking it. When drying up milk supply, I’ve hear old cabbage leaves in your bra actually works, but personally I used ice packs. My daughter switched straight onto cows milk with no issues. I tried mixing it with breastmilk at first and she rejected it, but she drank it on its own just fine. After she turned a year, I alternated between bottles of breast milk and bottles of cows milk until I used up my freezer stash.

Well done for getting to 12 months of pumping 🥳👏🏿 and still pumping 4 x a day, that’s amazing. When my first was 1, I was only pumping twice a day so it was slightly easier but I would say gradually reduce to 3,2, 1, maybe bi weekly. When you get to 1, reduce the session by 5 mins each time, In terms of cows milk, I started with 1oz cows milk and the rest breast milk and gradually increased it. He was stuck on 1/2 for a while as when the greater majority was cows milk, he didn’t like it. However everyone is different and your son might take to it really well.
