Help

So my 2.5 year old is knackered all the time! She goes to bed for 7pm but wakes you up a few hours later and has to sleep in our bed. She no longer naps because if she does she won’t go to sleep at night! Will it get better? Should she nap? I’m battered all the time She’s very aggressive and quick to throw tantrums but she’s also so sweet and clever

All you can do is be patient. It gets easier.

What time does she wake up? Have you tried pushing her bedtime back? My son started needing naps later in the day so I pushed his bedtime to 8pm vs 7pm.

Give her extra time to play outside. Also, remove any toys or objects that seem to set her off, at least temporarily. Try to spend more time reading books. A few extra stories after lunch can change the course of the afternoon.

@Haley 💚 she gets up at 7am, if she has a nap she won’t sleep till 10pm

@Bonny we do this and we read constantly. I work full time as well

It sounds like you’ve tried everything. The transition between when they stop napping and when they actually stop needing a nap is rough. My 3 year old can push through naps but around dinner time he’s grumpy, then he gets a burst of energy after eating and passes out after baths.

I will get a lot of judgement after my comment, but my child goes to bed at 11pm- 12 am. We have a nursery at 1 pm, so I decided to let him stay awake longer and wake up later. He started having a nap at 4 pm or 6 pm. I decide if he needs a nap by looking at his behaviour. If he is moody, he needs a nap. If he is happy jolly, then we skip it. We wake up between 9am and 11am. He is 2 and a half.

@Haley 💚 yeah we get this, She can be quite nasty

@PsyQ I don’t judge for this, it’s what works for you She goes to nursery for 7.30am I work in a hospital so I work long shifts and my husband’s in aviation so he works even longer shift! It’s all just so bloody hard 😂
