When is the best time to change from cot to toddler bed?

We changed our little boys at around 16/17 months because one night he climbed out and nearly broke his neck🤦‍♀️ so we changed him that night and then ordered him a floor bed the same night mainly because he tried to climb under the cot and got his head stuck

We're not changing ours until our little girl shows signs of climbing. She could not be trusted in a bed 😂

I moved my LB yo a floor bed at 15m as he's a restless sleeper and kept hitting the bar and waking himself up x

There’s no rush changing as long as they’re not trying to climb out at which point it becomes unsafe. My boy will be staying in the cot for as long as possible. He is safe, I know exactly what he’s doing, can’t fall off, and don’t have to walk him back into his room a million times.😅
