What do you do when they wake up from a nap too early?

When they won’t go back down so they are just a grizzly baby? How are you dealing with this? This nap regression is horrific. I get no time for myself because the naps are so short. Then when he is awake he’s tired and miserable.

No advice I’m afraid but I’m in the same boat, I’m very lucky if he sleeps for 30 mins, usually it’s about 20 and he just won’t go back down 😭

@Heather horrible isn’t it. I’m finding this the hardest phase.

I try to nurse her back to sleep which used to work before the 4 month regression sometimes but now it doesn't work anymore :( she just ends up looking more tired and moody as the day goes on 😔

Mine has not stopped crying all day and has only had a total of 1.5hrs nap today 😩

@Rachel this is where I was at. I’ve just managed to get him down now but it’s thrown my whole day out and probably my night too

If he doesn’t go back down in ten minutes then pure distraction mode until the next nap rolls around - dancing, singing, looking in the mirror etc. Doesn’t always work but can sometimes help distract from the proper crying! X

I’m glad I’m not the only one my daughter only sleeps 20 to 30min naps she’s just gone asleep at 5.50 as she was fussing so hoping she wakes by 6.30 so her bed time can be 8.30 my daughter is most settled when we are out looking around being nosy gets bored at home and frustrated she can’t sit up I’m hoping gets better to occupy her when she can sit up

I'm considering trying the wake to sleep method where you gently rouse them 5 mins before they usually wake so they go back to sleep.. from what I've read it seems worth trying!

@Loren I’ve never heard of this. Is this for naps? So if they usually wake bang on 40 mins you’d wake them at 35 mins and they then sleep longer?
