Feeling sick and headaches when collecting colostrum…

Does anyone else get a headache and feel sick when collecting colostrum?? I’m 36w4 days and have been collecting for a week. It’s been slow at about a syringe every other night but I’m happy with that. I’ve noticed though that I will come over feeling sick and develop a headache whenever I collect colostrum. Is this a hormone thing? Should I stop? Thanks xx

Maybe speak to your midwife, I haven’t heard of that happening x

Never heard of this - ask a professional. Is there a reason you need colostrum, particularly this early? If not, don't sorry about collecting it -baby can do that when they arrive! Their tummies are tiny so you already have for the first few days!

I wonder if it's something similar to DMER (dysphoric milk ejection reflex)... 🤔

I have gestation diabetes so when I was at my last appointment they said about collecting now, I didn’t think anything of it! I’ll try and get ahold of my midwife today

@Paulina I don’t have any negative feelings towards breastfeeding, I was excited it was coming in and I was about to collect?

DMER has nothing to do with negative feelings towards breastfeeding, it's a sudden, involuntary feeling/sensation when your letdown happens. So I'm thinking it could be something similar but obviously could be something completely different! Could be hormonal for example x
