I went to active labor without my water breaking. It can definitely happen. I gave birth to my first son at 39 weeks and 4 days.
Water breaking doesn’t equal active labor, you can have active labor and still have your water bag intact. If you are having contractions I would definitely start timing them and go in when you’re 5-6 min apart for an hour!
Does that mean I’m early labor back hurts a lot
@Mariah I felt my contractions in my back not the front
@Natalia oh crap so I should go to the hospital
@Natalia I feel everything on my back
@Mariah if you fit the OB criteria for labor yes, so if you’re not sure I’d call your office and ask
I’m pretty sure the most common time for your water to break is during pushing.
Any bloody show? Time your contractions. If they are happening consistently every 5 minutes, lasting about 1 minute for 1 hour, then it's timw to go in. I feel mine typically much more in my back and hips than I do anywhere else and my water has never broken before I started pushing (with 3 births)
There 9 mins apart my contractions
@Mariah I woukd go get checked. Better to be safe than sorry!
@Mariah I'd say it's too early to go in if they're that far apart and they'll probably just end up sending you home. Try to rest because you may be going into active labor soon ish.
@Mariah
@Aubrey I’m not dilated. Is that gonna be a problem like can my body not naturally get dilated?

@Mariah how do you know you're not dilated? Your body will/should start dilating
@Mariah did you go to triage and they checked you today? Or this was previously?
@Valerie just now and blood pressure is high
I’m a second time mom and my contractions are 5 mins apart, but they ended up sending me home today, Once you feel a pattern or see bleeding/ water then go in
@Mariah either way, no, that’s not a problem. Effacement typically happens before dilation. Some women dilate slowly over the course of many hours or days, and some women can dilate from a 1-10 in 1 hour. You never know how your body will react but there’s no need to worry if you’re not dilated now.
@Valerie but I’m worried I’m due next week and no dilated
@Mariah it’s very normal to not be dilated at all at this point. I’m also due next week and I’m likely not dilated at all right now either.
@Valerie I’m getting induced
@Mariah when
@Mariah now
@Mariah what did the nurses say?
@Mariah so due to my blood pressure I will be getting induced tonight which I was not expecting because if baby is longer like 40 weeks, then the baby could suffer
@Mariah praying everything goes well:)
@Mariah thank you
@Mariah how far along are you?

@Mariah 39 weeks
@Mariah well it sounds like you’ll be meeting your baby soon after all! 🤍👶🏼 congrats and I’m hoping it’s a smooth process!
With my first I had contractions and then went to the hospital water didn’t break until I was there some point. It’s rare for your water to break before the hospital but I know it does happen.
