Night sleep

I can’t help but feel like I’m doing something wrong as my EBF 8 week old is up every 1-2 hours overnight. He’s started the night tonight with a 3 hour stretch which is unheard of for him but we are now currently on wake up 4. I’ve seen so many posts where other babies are sleeping 4+ hours at a time and only have a couple of wake ups and feel so alone and like I’m doing something wrong as mine is up so often. Anyone else in the same boat?

You’re not doing anything wrong. They’re all just different. This is my second baby and both were EBF. Im currently on my first wake at 4am after a 6 hour stretch. My first baby would have been on a minimum of 3 wakes by now and didn’t manage a 6 hour stretch until he was 1

Mine is the same and I feel you! She is exclusively breastfeed and wakes up every 2 hours. She also has reflux which means that we have to hold her upright for 30 mins after each feed. The hubby and I are doing shifts so that we can get some sleep at all. That’s the only way we can survive.

Your definitely not alone! I do Find when you go online you read alot about people's baby sleeping through alot longer, I felt the same . My BF baby is 9 weeks and mostly has been waking up every 2 hours since about 12 days old sometimes even more than that! Only recently he starting doing slightly longer stretches. Try not to think much into it i know the sleep deprivation is hard I really struggle with it personally but it's temporary and before you know it the newborn stage is over 🥹

Mine is exactly the same - every 1.5 -2 hrs, rarely does 3 hour stretches! Breastfeeding & 5 weeks old.. it is hard not to compare when you see other posts saying their baby sleeps long stretches but remember all are different and they have plenty of time to get into a routine - it’s still very early on

Same as Stephanie! My first fed a lot more regularly. This one can go longer stretches. Im not sure if it is a thing but my mum said bigger babies dont need to feed as regularly which was the case for us. My son was 7lb 9 and my little girl was pretty much 9lb x

It makes a difference between breastfed babies and formula fed babies! My baby is formula fed and can sleep 4 hours, but that's cause he can drink much more in a short amount of time. Breastfed babies need to drink mord

Sorry and when I say this one does longer stretches, her first stretch of the night is usually 5 hours. She’s ebf. With our first it turned out to also be a comfort thing as as soon as we taught him to self settle around 5/6 months, he dropped his night feeds and started sleeping through the night x

My first child was feeding (EBF) every hour or two through the night for many many months. Especially when going through a growth spurt or learning new skills. I learnt how to safely bedshare so that we could get more sleep. You're not doing anything wrong, you're doing everything perfectly for your baby💕

My 9 week old has one long stretch of 3/4 hours at the start & then is every hour and half/ 2 hours too! You’re not alone.

It’s a relief to hear others are going through the same and it’s not just me. My breastfeeding journey was different with my first and by the same age as my son she was formula fed and sleeping through the night so I guess I’m comparing to that too. Thank you all for your kind words, and it’s nice to hear everyone’s stories too
