Distance from hospital!

This is a random question, but how far away is everyone from the hospital? My local maternity ward has JUST shut down unexpectedly for 6 months due to an unsafe SCBU and I’m now 30/35 minutes away from the nearest hospital. I was so happy to only be 5 mins away from my original hospital and this has really thrown me off 🫣

I'm about 15 mins but also have to include time for someone to come pick me up as I doubt I'll be driving myself there in labour 😅

I'm 45 minutes away from the hospital where I deliver (there is another one 6 minutes away but I won't be using that one for personal reasons).

I’m 10-15 mins away if it’s quiet like really early in morning but in traffic it can be horrendous so gotta know the shortcuts 🤣

10 mins, but if the Dartford Crossing has problems it could be an hour 😂

About 30 mins or more if there’s traffic

I’m 25 mins with no traffic

The two hospitals I can go to are both 30-40 mins away 😣

35 mins no traffic… An hour or more at rush hours or when traffic is busy. Hoping we go in at night when there’s no traffic!

25mins no traffic 35-40 is more realistic, it’s over an hour away from my work. I have started to think should something start whilst I’m at work what would I do as it would take my husband an hour to come and get me then an hour back? I’m assuming it’s not safe to drive if you go into labour, just sit it out in a meeting room I expect 🫣

About 40 mins, our local birth units also been shut for 3 years, in the press they said because it was understaffed but one of the midwives said there was an “incident” not that the next closest is any better they also currently have an inquest going on because their figures the past 4 months have been shocking 😨

Over an hour on a good day. Strong chance babies could come over the May bank holiday weekend so goodness knows what traffic will be like. I’ll be packing myself a little in car delivery kit just in case.

Where I gave birth previously was just over an hour when the roads were clear, which they basically never were. Current hospital is supposedly an 18 minute drive but it’s central London so very dependent on day/time/events going on x

30-45 mins in good traffic but it has taken me over an hour at times if an accident or rush hour!

20 mins no traffic, 40 mins rush hour usually, but depending on business the drive around the hospital to get to the labour ward can take another 20 mins…

I have 2 options and both are 45 minutes away from where I live x

45-1hr for us xx

Thanks guys! I know it’s a silly worry but just hoping traffic will be ok on the day 🤣

My hospital was about 35mins away. In labour on the way there I focused on breathing and had an eye mask on which helped me stay calm and not get distracted.

For my first birth it was 45-50 minutes. This time it is 30 mins in good traffic (London so unpredictable). It is very likely you will have plenty of time to get to the hospital. Last time I started labour at around 8pm, spent the night at home. Woke up around 8am, contractions got to 3 in 10 around 9.30, left home around 10 and got to the hospital around 11. Was 5cm dilated. Baby was born 7pm. Got a black cab to the hospital and I found the distraction of the driver chatting very helpful!
