Has anyone had day case/key hole surgery?
How painful or easy is the recovery? And do you think I would be able to breastfeed my baby cause pumping is hard work đ
And any position recommendations would be nice!
Iâve had three lots of keyhole surgeries before having my baby, and recovery was pretty quick unless theyâre doing anything major in there! Around 2-3 days later the pain wonât be so bad, and I felt totally normal after about a week.
In terms of breastfeeding, youâre fine after general anaesthetic to feed as normal. Just make sure you say youâre breastfeeding so they ensure any painkillers are short-lived/safe!
Theyâll try to tell you that baby cannot be on a ward with you if youâre in the UK, in my experience, but thatâs rubbish. If you are exclusively breastfeeding you are absolutely entitled to have your baby with you, with another adult for safety reasons. It might be that they have to move you to maternity ward after the surgery to accommodate. Lots of them donât even realise that you are entitled to this accommodation, so stand firm if thatâs what you want to do after you recover. Chances are, youâll be in and out within a handful of hours unless there are complications!
Side lying or rugby ball are the best positions to try to not pull your stitches! Good luck! đ
@Rhiann itâs a at private hospital practice so I donât even think there is a maternity bit
