My 1st I didn't introduce a bottle or dummy until 6 weeks and he rejected both ( l was worried about nipple confusion)! My 2nd has had occasional bottles and dummys since day 3 and no confusion at all! He will reject the dummy if he wants the breast too and he gained at 5 days and put on 9oz at 2 weeks (they like between 7 and 10oz)
Iv been breastfeeding the past 10 weeks as well as 1 bottle every few days and had no nipple confusion, no issues with latch etc, i think it's more a warning that it 'could' happen, but most often baby will be completely fine
My little boy is EBF and I was worried about this exact same thing too! We introduced a dummy around 4 weeks old and it helps soothe him really well. We only use it when changing his nappy at night before bed or in the car if he’s crying. He’s had no nipple confusion, still breastfeeds really well and has put loads of weight on! Only thing is, is that he can’t seem to hold any type of dummy in his mouth on his own so we have to sit there and hold it for him otherwise it falls out after 30 secs or so!
My sister was ebf when she introduced the dummy and bottle to her little one she picked a dummy that had a similar teat to the bottle which made it easier. I on the other hand stopped breast feeding after 2 and half weeks so it was easier for me to introduce a dummy I use nuk but the way the dummy is is similar to a breast shape bar the end of the test because it’s orthopedic but it allows for a proper latch on the dummy rather than using some other dummy’s I’ll add the link https://amzn.eu/d/e2EJGNS
So if you like u can test your luck with it xx
We breastfeed and have introduced a dummy. No nipple confusion. It’s working really well to help soothe him
Thanks so much for everyone’s comments, I just tried after feeding and he fell asleep literally within a couple of minutes and had a really good nap in his moses basket so I think it may work wonders ❤️
My daughter has had a dummy from the get go and is EBF, she’s never struggled with her latch or anything we’ve got the tommee tippee newborn dummy’s and also the closer to nature ones for when she hits two months if she still wants it x
