Buy some nipple shields & silver cups Try and speak to a lactation specialist or breastfeeding service & see if there's a tongue tie. You're also peak cluster feed& growth spurts, it does get better. Make sure you're not getting cues mixed up like hunger, tired, nappy etc.
that is a good idea. i had them in the hospital and a few days after but my brain is mush and i completely forgot about that and im tired of googling everything🥲 thank you guys!!
Good luck! It does get easier as they get bigger but I'd definitely get the latch checked out Some nipple creams can cause more pain or issues someone told me... I can't remember which or why but just remembered
i think it is related to his latch. i don’t think it’s deep enough. i tried to change positions where i was more reclined and it felt much much better. i’ve been using the medela purelan cream also
Hope you get sorted, drop me a DM if you wanna chat. I've had a fair few moments where I've wanted to scream & give up so happy to chat about what I've learnt
you’re amazing, thank you🫶🏽
@alliyah if he has an issue with getting a really deep latch you can hold his chin down when latching him onto the breast to keep his mouth open long enough to latch deeply
Same thing was happening to me. I HAD to give my nipples a break so I made the hard decision to quit breastfeeding for a week and exclusively pumped still giving him breast milk so that they could heal. I used Lanolin cream, let my boobs air out even if I was leaking like crazy. Then I made an appointment to see a lactation consultant for after they healed. Then went back to breastfeeding exclusively and have had no problems. Also my baby wouldn’t take a pacifier in the beginning so I had to go through several different ones and I offered them the same way I would my boob and eventually he started to accept them.
i want to give them a break but idk where to start because idk when i could pump that’s the difficult part. i don’t think i want to go back to formula.. my baby is much happier with breastmilk. i probably should see a lactation consultant again. which pacifiers did your baby like? maybe i’ll start there
I saw someone else say it above too, but could be a latch issue. There's exercises you can do with your baby to get it better, or maybe even check for a tongue tie
i made an appointment with the lactation consultant but she won’t be able to see me until next week. the lactation consultant at the hospital did check and said that he didn’t have a tongue tie and his latch was great but i don’t think that’s the case anymore because i’m in pain🥲 i didn’t know there were exercises though, that’s good to know!
He likes the tommee tippee silicon ones and also you should check out (Alissa Brown IBCLC) on YouTube she provides a lot of good demonstration on breast feeding, and latching among a lot of other things.
It sounds like he may have a shallow latch
