I didn’t get first choice I have appealed just waiting to hear back. Just found out my Lo is 8th in the waiting list for first choice school. How likely am I to get him a place there.

What part of the country are you in? It all depends on how oversubscribed the schools in your area are.

People do move and it may be that by half term the 7 on the list are already settled or you could be bumped down by someone that lives closer.
When’s best to check again if I have gone up or down on the list ?
Are you within catchment etc?
8th on the list to me sounds unlikely or you may get offered a place late in the year.
