Cosleeping to crib transition

I’ve been cosleeping with my little guy since he came home. We were in the hospital and he spit up and was choking on it while I was in the restroom and after that I had such bad postpartum anxiety that I literally would not put him down to sleep. He slept on me and then we just kept that going. Now almost a year later I miss sleeping with my husband (he sleeps in the other room because he’s not aware when he’s sleeping) but I have no idea how to transition to the crib. My baby still wakes pretty consistently through the night to nurse even though I’m pretty sure it’s mostly for comfort at this point rather than hunger. I feel like it’s the only way for him to connect sleep cycles. He’s a very clingy baby and naps are usually in the stroller because of the movement. Has anyone else successfully made this transition?? How?? I know all babies are different but any tips would be amazing

My baby is only 2 months but we exclusively coslept up until a few weeks ago just by patting him to sleep in c curl position and then transferring him once he was asleep. Some days he’s okay with it some days he’s not just keep trying!! Tbf I do end up bringing him in the bed around his second wake up just because by that point I’m too tired to try to transfer again.

We got a floor bed! Highly recommend! You can get in when needed and cuddle but it's also easier to get out! Highly recommend xx

Here for the replies. :)

we used a normal crib but took down one side if it and pushed the bed next to us so he still felt close and i could still have my arm there if he needs

king size floor bed

I tried a twin size floor bed and then would transfer for a while. I gave up though and moved her to a queen size floor bed and removed the crib. She sleeps through the night after I nurse her to sleep now.

Try warming up his crib with a heating pad and then transfer him when he's fast asleep (do the noodle arm test) This may sound weird, but hold his sheets in your boobs to get your smell all over them. The warm bed + your smell will make him think he's still laying with you
