Potty training techniques

I need some techniques to teach potty training my son will use it only to pee sometimes but I have until August to get him fully potty trained. I do sit him on the potty when he wakes up, after 30 mins he eats and before he goes to bed but it don't really seem to stick with him. He does have Moderate Autism. I do have him use the potty training underwear but any other tips or advice I can try to use

Has your son been diagnosed with autism? If so, Visual aids would be really helpful to he can understand (via pictures) the process of going to the toilet and what to do. Your OT will be able to help if you can't find anything online.

@Katherine yes he was diagnosed with Moderate autism in late March, so im still trying to get him the help he needs but I will try some visual aids

There are some on etsy! You could cut them out, laminate them and then put Velcro on the back on them. Then have a laminated A4 paper and get him to put in order which comes first 🙂

In addition to what has been written, it’s also better to watch for cues that he wasn’t pee or poo and then put him on the potty than randomly putting him. You take off this diaper, watch him closely and put him on when the pew is already coming out. That way, he can associate peeing with the potty if that makes sense

Basically we put our son on every hour - we started Saturday and only had two accidents and dry over night last night . I think talk about it a lot - take him to the toilet with you . Check he’s comfortable . We use the toilet and he loves to flush it x
