Any tips? My son turned 2 in March and I’ve been trying to potty train him since a few months before his seconds birthday. I’ve tried everything - quickly putting him on the potty when I see him going to go for a poo but then he just stops himself doing one completely so he’s just sat on potty messing, I’ve tried putting the potty in front of tv and putting him on potty for a hour a few times a day which doesn’t work, I’ve tried no pants on in the house and potty with us but he ended up pooping on my carpet, and I’ve tried no nappy just his pj bottoms and he ended up wetting himself and pooping and didn’t care if was there. I’ve tried literally everything and I’m dying right now , it’s as if he just doesn’t want to learn because he knows what a potty is and what’s it’s for cos he tells me but he just doesn’t want to use it. He won’t use the toilet with a seat on it either so I’m stuck here.

@Pyper-jai we are doing a reward chart! So everytime he goes potty he gets to choose a sticker ( he picked all the stickers out himself) & then he gets to put it on the paper! I would suggest finding something he likes to use as his “reward”. I also just started slowing sitting him on the potty everytime i went in to pee ( I didn’t do it everytime but like every other time) & that seemed to help! Also we play a “potty song” off YouTube the first few times & that got him super excited too! :)

Thank you I’ll have to give that a go and see if this helps cos I’m having a hard time with it and don’t want him getting to 3 etc and him still in nappies

I’m currently day 3 of potty training my daughter. It’s so much different than my son when I potty trained him. I went in with him with zero expectations but he just got it 🥴 I used the Cherio method and a baby urinal for him to stand and pee. I know that isn’t recommended but it just worked for him! (The cheerio method is putting a single cheerio or fruit loop in the bowl and letting him “aim” his pee in the hole. It was a hit! We just kept a ziploc bag of them by his potty and one day he just didn’t need them anymore. My daughter is a totally different story though! She’s smart and manipulative LOL so the book Oh Crap! Potty Training has been super helpful! We had an outing yesterday with an accident in her car seat but a SUCCESSFUL POTTY IN PUBLIC! We’re still commando but going to put big girl panties on tomorrow if she’s accident free today. Number 2 is still pending LOL
