Thank you @Charlotte . I’ll book an appointment with GP next week. Definitely, I don’t want him to struggle when peeing and if it becomes sore then I’ll definitely get it done for him. It’s just tricky to know whether he will grow out of it at this stage or not
And he has just started saying ‘ouchy willy’ when peeing 🥲
My friend saw me change my little boy's nappy the other week and told me he has this as her little boy does too. He's 4 and seen GP as think he's been dribbling wee. We've just started potty training today so will see how we get on!
Thanks @Laura its nice to know it’s not just us. It’s been variable - most times he hasn’t had any actual problems with it but I’ll see what the GP advice will be. And good luck with potty tracing!
The foreskin is fused to the skin until minimum age 5 sometimes later, so it’s unknown whether it’s too tight to not at this age. Toddlers can still get infections if bacteria gets in there which cause the symptoms, and need cream/antibiotics to treat. It happened to my son once about 5m ago but he’s been fine since, just see a GP for medications. Circumcision won’t be needed for a one off infection, only would be recommended for repeated infections x
Thanks @Emily , that’s helpful!
I can’t comment on children specifically, but I had an ex boyfriend who had this condition - called phimosis- and he really struggled to enjoy sex or self pleasure because his foreskin was so tight it was painful. He ended up having circumcision and it was a quick recovery and massive improvement for him. I obviously know that aspect is way down the line for your son but just to think of another angle? Definitely worth talking to your GP to see if he would have issues later on. Xx
