Sex of baby

Does anyone actually believe you can influence the sex of your baby by diet, time of sex, etc?…

No. It’s literally luck of the draw unless you live in a country that sadly allows gender selection through IVF

No the man makes the gender of baby

No, because it's genetics, man's sperm determine gender, and the one compatible with egg which we don't have control over. We always have X chromosome.

Same thing …

No not at all

No, that doesn't make any sense biologically. Since the sperm decides gender, it's all dependent on which sperm meets the egg first. Just like there's no way to enhance your odds of multiples without fertility meds, if you understand basic biology it doesn't make sense that it could be influenced by outside efforts.

No you can’t. The gender literally comes from the man🤦🏼‍♀️

No it's determined by the male's sperm. Just have to see what happens!

The wives tale is like time of sex so I guess if there were to be true then maybe for the man. But again I don’t think so. It’s totally up to God

No lol

Yes to an extent. I know people who tried it and got the results.

@Gabrielle it’s up to the male

No

The Shettles Method is basically a theory about how you might increase your chances of having a boy or a girl depending on when you have sex around ovulation. 🩵Boy sperm (Y chromosome) are faster swimmers but they don’t live as long. 🩷Girl sperm (X chromosome) are slower but survive longer. So, if you want a boy, you should have sex right around ovulation (like on the day you ovulate), so the fast boy sperm get to the egg first. If you want a girl, you should have sex a few days before ovulation (like 2–4 days earlier), so by the time the egg is ready, the boy sperm are mostly gone and only the girl sperm are still hanging around. Of course, it’s not 100% guaranteed but that’s the idea behind the theory. My friend had all three of her kids just the way she planned using this, and looking back, both of my boys were conceived right around ovulation too. So honestly, for us, it pretty much worked!

@Nora my girl was conceived on the day of ovulation

@Donna Woods congratulations!🎉

@Laura I know that’s why I said maybe for timing of sex if that’s true. But the men can’t just choose what they want so that’s why I say it’s up to God

@Gabrielle God (if there is one) doesn’t pick the sperm either. It’s just biology and the fastest sperm 🤷🏻‍♀️

Okay that’s what you believe

@Gabrielle Yes. I believe in Science which explains biological conception and how it happens

Well said @Donna Woods

@Laura thank you! People always try to push their religion when it comes to these things. It’s frustrating when there is an actual explanation for it which is factual and been proven many times over

They did studies and found that old wives tales are myths. In some men, the x or the y can be faulty and the other gendered sperm will always be the one that fertilizes the egg. Which is the reason why they can only have girls or boys

No my brother and his wife tried for a boy but got twin girls 😂

I feel like if you have sex after your period it’s a boy but before your period it’s a girl. It’s just a feeling not a fact tho I have two boys which were conceived after my period. 😁 it might be worth trying nothing to lose :)

100%… if you do IVF. The only way to guarantee the gender you are aiming for is IVF. It’s a 50:50 lottery and it’s determined by your partners genetics anyway. I’ve seen a few wacky recipes and concoctions mentioned on here and the only thing they will guarantee you is the shits 😂

@Sarah Depending on the country. UK, thankfully, doesn’t allow gender selection unless there is a medical reason behind it. Australia doesn’t either. I think some states in America do but unsure of any other countries tbh

Just came here to say that there has been new research that shows the egg has a part in choosing which sperm it wants, so it’s not all down to the men! https://www.manchester.ac.uk/about/news/human-eggs-prefer-some-mens-sperm-over-others-research-shows/#
