IVF round 2 / genetic testing anxiety

I’m on my second round of IVF after 8 unsuccessful rounds of IUI over that last year +. We conceived our daughter on round 2 of IUI so this has been a very long and frustrating road. Our first round of IVF was looking good initially— 18 follicles retrieved & 12 fertilized — but only 2 made to blastocyst and genetic testing showed they were both abnormal so we never made it to transfer. We just had our second retrieval this week and they got 26 eggs... 16 were mature and 15 fertilized... a good start but based on last time I’m only cautiously optimistic. Will have an update on the status of our embryos on Monday and then it’s on to genetic testing again 🤞🏻🙏🏻 Ugh the waiting game is BRUTAL 😫 Anyone out there have a similar experience with good results in the end? Looking for some encouragement!

I got 1 good embryo the first time and 5 the second! Stay positive bc each cycle can be different.

Thank you, that is super helpful to know!!

I was on an almost 4 year infertility journey which at times felt very hopeless and discouraging. My first round of IVF failed. The second round of IVF worked and I’m 32 weeks pregz!! I used to constantly worry about all the stats day by day as we waited for results. Constantly searching the internet for anything that would comfort me so I wouldn’t lose my mind waiting. Just remember it only takes one. I also have friends who conceived healthy babies without pgs/pgd or decided to use embryos that weren’t considered “normal”. Just know anything is possible! Good luck to you ❤️

Thank you!! 🙏🏻

We had 14 embryos genetically tested, only 7 were normal. Every patient is different. Good luck!
