Baby only eating sweet things

I understand the premise that we offer baby variety and they decide what and how much to eat, but for the past few days baby is only having sweet things, like yoghurt, fruits etc (he’s 10mo) If I try to offer him a plate with veg and meat, rice, pasta etc, he won’t touch it anymore, all to the floor. I can try to offer however many times in a row, he will starve himself before he eats it 😂 He will eat crumpets with cheese tho 😂 but can’t live off of crumpets ffs 🫣😂😂😂 Is it teething? Is it just a phase? Do I need to try anything different? Send help 🫠

I'm having similar. He is only 8.5m though and I kmow "food is for exploring" but he now won't eat anything he has before and pretty much will only eat either yogurt or fruit pouches. Driving me mad because I keep making things for him and he just cries and won't touch it or it goes straight on the floor. I'm also starting work in a week and I breast feed and he will not have milk any other way no matter what. So bit concerned he won't get anything in him for 9/10hrs I'm gone at this rate

Following as I have the same issue, only yogurts or fruit and literally gags at anything else

I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep offering a mixture of foods. The main thing is not to offer yoghurt and fruit pouch after they refuse savoury food as they'll obviously just wait for that.

We've had a similar phase at around that age too, as did one of my friends at the same age. She's just started eating everything again, she's 11 1/2 months. I'd suggest to keep offering everything, it's important he keeps having choices, until he is out of the phase. If that helps, it's not the last phase haha our nutritionist said between 1 and 2 yo they go through a bigger phase like this where they literally stop eating everything but a handful of food. And the answer is the same, keep offering everything, in a smaller amount if you want to avoid wastage, but it's important we keep offering lots of different flavours, texture, etc..

I’ve heard it’s just a phase. What about mixing veg with fruit so they at least are still getting veg somehow.

@Caroline I try my best but no matter how many times I offer the main meal, he will refuse, cry, chuck it on the floor. I don’t want him to go hungry so after a few tries I end up giving him the sweet stuff 😮‍💨

@Amandine thank you!! I’ll keep offering him plenty!

Can you mix some veg in with sweeter stuff!? I've made bizarre choices before like courgette with apple or avocado with banana (which makes like a gorgeous creamy pudding). Helps get some veg and good fats in her haha 😂 xxx

@Hollie Sutcliffe hahaha I’ll give it a go! Thank you

@Nat that won't be helping! Babies and kids won't starve by skipping a meal or two. If he's learned you'll give in and give the sweet stuff if he cries then he's going to keep doing it. Why wouldn't he? 🙈
