Weaning help

My little girl is nearly 9months old, she’s still learning to wean and only recently it’s started to become a bit successful as she’s now sitting up on her own. We have her in a highchair in the morning and afternoon. Usually in the morning we were giving her rusk mixed in with her formula on a spoon and she was enjoying it. Opening her mouth for it and having a fair bit. More recently she’s refusing it and crying. In the afternoon she has some toast, banana, cucumber and a carrot puff to play with and explore. None ends up in her mouth unless we help her try it and sometimes she does chew on it a bit. I understand not every time it’s going to go well and maybe we should try other things but it’s difficult and just feel it’s so wasteful with food. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to help her? Pic for attention

It will happen when it happens! We wasted food for over 2 years before we cracked weaning. It sounds like you are being far more successful than we were. Hold tight, it will come!

My LO only started enjoying food when she turned 1, and she still gets overwhelmed if there are too many options. Give your LO time, she’ll get there. Could she be teething? That might put her off food too.

We started with finger foods, just let her hold it, squish it and sit infront of her eating the same food but showing her how you put it in your mouth, she will pick up the motion and after she feels a couple of textures, spoon feeding will be much easier! We started off with soups (most of it went down her chin!🤣) but our girl eventually got used to the motions and eating. It all takes a while don’t feel pressured, if she’s still eating milk/formula then she’s getting all the nutrition she needs xx

To be honest we started at 4 months because we where advised to by her Dr she was already a really good weight but was having 8/9 bottles of 7/8oz which is alot ..we started with purees and made our way up from textures and tastes just one thing at a time can help to ,I noticed if I put all her food Infront she would just chuck it on the floor but with one thing like veggies first and then something sweeter after that ...she tired porridge for 4-6 months only one or two spoons and next morning try 2-3 spoons ...food under 1 is only for fun anyways ...I didn't fully worry about it till she was 1 years now she wants food all the time eating 3 meals ,plus snacks and only two bottles now ♥️ I even let her pick the stuff we get a the shops just for now so I know what she likes and don't like x

My baby is 9 mos. He doesn't like food. Only takes purees in the soup like form. It's hard when I try to give him things with texture, like your baby. He refuses too! You're not alone! It will happen in time. My Pediatrician wasn't concerned at his 9 mo checkup.
