Frustrated

Anyone else just feel frustrated having GD? I was diagnosed a few months ago now and I am diet controlled but just sick of feeling paranoid and not being able to have what I want when I want. All my cravings are sweet and I can’t have anything 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I was diagnosed at the 29 week gtt and seemingly haven’t had any high readings since 🤷‍♀️ luckily I’ve only got ten days till my section now, although I can eat anything it’s been very stressful and made my final trimester pretty miserable. I was very strict at first until it became apparent that I seem to have been misdiagnosed (fasting bloods 4.8 and after drink bang on the 7.8 cutoff, I also had high white blood cells the week of the test so was fighting something off anyway.) I sympathise with your frustration

@Clare I was exactly the same up until a couple of weeks ago, my test results were also literally borderline. Just feel miserable being stuck with this! Good luck x

@Carrie-Anne 😞 totally understand! Good luck to you too xx

You can still have sweet things just in moderation. I’ve been eating a lot of chocolate peanuts. And I’ve heard a lot of people are fine with freddos x

Just to add- my consultant told me if I can tolerate something, even something like chocolate I’m free to have it. I just make sure I check an hour after as they all say tolerances may change (haven’t in my case.) x

It’s sooo hard!! I’ve found I can have chocolate if paired with a pretty big portion of nuts.

I was diagnosed at 16 weeks and I have “baseline” diabetes plus being pregnant. I really like keto desserts and just learning to budget carbs. Like sugar free Reese’s are actually really good!
