Feeding

My son is 12 days old and he seems to want to feed every hour rather than every 2-3 hrs. Anyone else experience this. I fed him again after the hour and he vomited most of it up so I think he was over fed. Is he just being greedy 😩

Are you breast or formula feeding? My son was EBF and at one stage he was feeding closer to every 1 and a half hours, rather than 2 hours, which is normal, as they can cluster feed/ want more during growth spurts, ect. I don’t really have experience with formula feeding, so I’d just be guessing, but maybe if you think he’s hungry again, give him a smaller amount of formula, see if he finishes it, then wait and see how he handles it. Also, I’ve heard that “hungry baby” formula is just a gimmick and doesn’t provide more nutrients, it just “fills” their belly and tricks them into thinking they are full, but then they could actually miss out on the nutrition they need because they started feeding less often.

My first fed every hour for a long time. Their stomachs are tiny and can only hold small amounts. Breastmilk is digested very quickly, so does feel like you're constantly feeding. As they get older they will also cluster feed. So I'd say this is completely normal but mention to your midwife if you're worried he's being sick. I'd presume same applies for formula too x

Totally normal. My boy was a sleepy baby and didn't care much for milk but my girl who was smaller than her twin was a guzzler and was sick a lot. It was like she couldn't tell when she'd had enough. They say you can't over feed a breastfed baby but... this one you could because it would start to cone out her nose and she would still be trying to get more 🤣🤣🤣 she seemed happy enough most of the time though and by about 9 months she stopped being sick 😂 we had the same issue once they both started solids though 😅 I'd say keep them say up for half an hour after the feed and burp him before, after and during 😅

@Michelle thank you Michelle. I do both breast milk and formula. Mostly formula as I find breast feeding really stressful and get headaches 😩 I will try top him up with a bit of formula see how we get on

@Sam aww no way Hahaha hungry baby girl 🤣. I think my son is the same he’s so sleepy he will sleep during feeds and I’m always trying to wake him up. I guess the feed is taking so long by the time he gets settled he’s ready to east again lol

@Katie ok thank you. X

Having kids isn't for the faint hearted haha
