How often are we meant to be sterilising bottles with breast milk? Is it after every feed or once a day for newborns Mine is about 6 weeks now

I sterilise once a day but I don’t reuse bottles in a day

You need to sterilise the bottle before every use until they're 12 months old

Read up on whether we actually need to be sterilising… Because our water system is all but free of bacteria, hot water and soapy water is fine. I just sterilise every few days 🙂 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P9Rt-MxP38Y

@Maria I don’t believe we’ll ever be told not to sterilise because it’s the responsible thing for health agencies to recommend it. It’s erring on the side of caution and it’s better than having people not clean feeding equipment properly. I looked into it because I don’t feel comfortable with the idea of heating plastic that goes into my baby’s mouth, as even bpa free, the plastic will leach microplastics. That’s a whole other conversation! I guess just do your research and do what you feel comfortable with.

Never have for either kids. Hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.

Think of all the awesome bacteria they are being exposed to in everyday life thru dirt, fingers, toys, floor et al. It's all necessary for a healthy stomach/hormone and immune system. Yes clean them w soap etc.. it's covering the bases, just like adding water to formula, and not feeding a newborn dry powder. Yes that happens.

I never sterilised bottles for breastmilk. I was told in the hospital that it's not really required. Just water with dish soap.
