Has anyone had a NST done and how was it and what was your outcome? 😭 This is my second kid but first time doing this! I start it in two weeks! Should I be worried?

My second baby and first time doing them too!! I have my first one on Wednesday! I'm sure they are more positive and just keeping in mind that it'll be nice to have an extra set of eyes and monitoring

I got them at the end of my second pregnancy and now 28 weeks onwards (weekly) with my third due to being high risk. They just wrap two monitors to your belly for 20 minutes to watch for contractions and baby’s heart rate. I’ve been fortunate to always “pass” my NST meaning no regular contractions and baby’s heart rate was good consistently during the test

@Megan ok so my doctor appointments are a hour and 20 mins away. Should I keep my birth bag in the car and take it with me?? Or should I see it as a regular doctor appointment? lol

@Lindsay yeah this is new to me so I was worried when they told me lol let me know how yours goes!

@Elyssa I personally never pack one unless I’m expecting bad news like I was with my second pregnancy. Are you getting one for a specific reason? Mine are like regular appointments so I get an ultrasound BPP then an NST then go back and see my doctor which happens every week for me

I have to do them every week they are not bad it’s only 30 minutes and you just lay there with the monitors on your belly and that’s it

I had my first one yesterday and I was so nervous but it was super easy! They hooked me up to the monitors for 20 minutes and baby passed bc they’re checking his heart rate during movement and his baseline one and they’re checking whether you’re having contractions. Then I got a quick ultrasound and went back to give her the results. No more than 30 minutes total.

I have had them twice weekly with both my pregnancy’s starting at 32 weeks. If you have sleepy babies during the day like I do, I would make sure you don’t make plans for anything right after your NST. With my first I “failed” several and they sent me to labor and delivery for extra monitoring. They consider failing when your baby is not raising their heartbeat 15 beats above baseline twice in a 10 min period, which is pretty hard to do if they are asleep. My suggestion is to just try and schedule your NST’s around a time when your baby is normally pretty active and bring snacks to eat in case they are sleeping!

I have weekly NSTs. Started that at 32 weeks. My hospital doesn’t allow you to have anyone accompany you for it. I’m told it’s a minimum of 20 minutes that they monitor the baby and you, my baby on the other hand moved around, so it took about 35 minutes. Apparently when baby gets bigger it’s easier to find baby, and they can’t move away from the sensor. I was given the recommendation to eat about 20 minutes beforehand and to drink something cold. They also offered ice and water. They have a noisy thing they put on my stomach to wake up my baby since she was really relaxed.

Omg ok thank you! 😭 I just want to make sure I don’t need to pack like if imma go to labor already if the test fails! They got me off guard when they told me about it cause I thought everything was good from my other appointments. 😭

@Megan I guess I’m getting it cause my BSM or BMS was high. Which I didn’t know it was until my doctor through this on me lol

I had the same fear! I was thinking what if I go into labor and my husband isn’t with me?!? But it was fast and she just said ok see you next week! 😂

@Clarissa lmao yeah it’s gonna probably be the same with me! She just said it fast and was like yeah every week imma see you and do that test cause your blah blah is high ok and then she went straight to ultra sound so I was like ooook I’ll be there for my appointments I guess lol
