@Tatia oh really? That’s interesting did any of them say why?
@Courtnie it’s rough on the body. Many would stay awake at home to see their kids, and try to take a nap. Some would go very little sleep until their days off, and then sleep at night. Night shift without kids is tough, and much easier when you are younger. I’ve done it before when I was child free, and I don’t suggest it for any mother.
It depends on the hours. If it’s full time, I personally wouldn’t want to. But I did have a job for about a year that was about 8 hours a week at night. It got me out of the house and gave me a bit of a life, but wasn’t too much. I didn’t make a whole lot of money though.
@Megan yeah this position is part time so it would be 4 12 hour shifts then couple days off and then a whole week off and then work the same thing again so only working 2 weeks in a month which isn’t to bad but the 12 hour shifts back to back seem like it could be a lot
It definitely depends on the person, but I work 12 hour night shifts currently and plan to continue post partum because most of my coworkers have kids and they say the schedule works so much better for them, especially with kids in daycare or school age!
I work at a hospital from 6pm-3:30am. So far it’s working out really well. I come home around the time my son’s father is getting up for work. My son sleeps until 8:30a-9a some mornings so I am not a total zombie from lack of sleep! Lol It really just depends on hours and what your child’s schedule looks like
I work in retirement and my hours is 10:30pm-6:30am two shifts a week unless I pick up more or other shifts. It’s not too bad and my LO will be 3 next month.. at first I wasn’t able to go to work with her seeing me now she’s ok with it. But I agree if it’s full time and with kids it’s rough and takes a toll on the body.
It’s very rough but I actually find it easier with the children we don’t have to pay childcare because I’m at home
@Sophie that’s exactly what I was thinking this possible position is part time so I would be able to be home a lot and not worry about daycare as it is we haven’t been able to find one yet and in limbo right now
@Courtnie I work 36 hours 1 week and 48 the next. It’s definitely not for the weak 😂 I am tired quite a lot but I appreciate sleep so much. I’m now 16 weeks pregnant aswell. I work in care
The mothers I have known to do this moved out of the position as soon as they could.
