I had my second just over 2 months old so about a 20 month age gap. It is lovely to have them so close and have found it the baby easier than my first and they do have a lovely relationship even now. Also easier as my baby just comes with us if we are doing anything (going to the park, meeting friends etc) She also sleeps better. I hated the newborn stage the first time round and didn’t love it this time as it was still hard but as I had my toddler it felt like it went much faster so it was over quicker. They fit in around your life to be honest, they have too as my toddler is always on the go and playing all the time! Life hasn’t changed that much, for me anyway, apart from taking longer to leave the house & remembering to bring everything for little one it’s pretty similar x
Definitely make sure you have the support of your husband as it does help. Especially in those first few weeks when your recovering, my husband got up in the night and took our toddler out so we could have some time. It’s hard for both of you but you can’t be expected to do it all alone x
I just gave birth a week ago, it’s much easier this time around, but u have to have someone to look after your toddler and entertain him and take him out ..
Got a 10 day old and a 22 month old. It's hard but I found that ee are working more as a team. We decided that we wanted our children close in age as we felt it would be best for them in the long run. Its early days but I can already see that my son is grateful he is a big brother now and his attitude has changed so much already 😍 he has grown up so much and I have seen a side to him that makes me so proud. I think you need to work out if your husband is going to be a good support because it is extremely difficult if he isn't going too xx
Thank you ladies. Yes my hubby is an amazing helper now, we only had issues at the first few months when he felt that he can’t do things with the baby…
I think you need to establish that your husband should be helping whether he “enjoys” it or not. That aside, we are at the same stage. Our son is 2 at the start of august and we want another but feel apprehensive. I’ve been told that the hardest change is going from one child to two so I imagine it will be challenging but equally by the time any baby would be born, our son would be starting school so that helps a bit. I like this age gap though!
