Is it too early?

Weaning My little boy is 5.5 months and I started weaning yesterday. He only had around 4 mouthfuls of purée and today he only had 2/3 mouthfuls, my ex partners family had some negative comments to say about weaning early (even though they weaned early too) and now I feel like I’ve made the wrong choice by starting the weaning process. He seemed to enjoy it bless him and now I just feel like I should have done it. Can some of you lovely ladies please advise whether I continue or try again at 6 months.

5.5 months is hardly that early! It will make little difference. If he’s enjoying it he’s ready.

Thank you

Also he’s your baby, they have no right to comment on how you choose to bring him up! I’d tell them to do one.

Like my health visitor told me 6 months is only the guidance, you know your baby best and will know when they are ready to start weaning. We started giving our little girl some (4-6) porridge in the mornings at 4.5 months (because she was showing lots of signs and interest in our food) and now at 5 months she has porridge in the morning and pureed steamed veg in the evening. We even let her have ‘tastes’ of other things like melon, strawberries etc which she just licks🤣but she loves it!

@Christina I know, they think they know best whilst at the same time have made worse choices for their own children. I did but I was in tbd wrong for doing so.

@Tiegan I told them what my health visitor said, which was basically the same thing and their response was ‘well maybe she’s new’

My son started at 4 months even though the midwife say six months but some of the stuff in the shop says 4 months I make my own food and give my child now he's five months his my 3rd child

My health visitor told me I could start from 20 weeks, just said it had to be purees before 6 months, my girl is 5.5 months too and been giving purees for a couple of weeks and she's loving them xx
