@Allie thanks for the insight! I have a history of post-partum haemorrhage which I think is why they suggested it. I’m two weeks from my due date! I went naturally with my previous pregnancy though and feel daunted by the prospect of induction. Do you think the concern is because of how low it is?
Ah yeah that makes sense it’s likely more about the previous blood loss, 139 is just on the cusp of ‘too low’, but for context 400 is ‘too high’ and they never worry till mine get closer to 1,000. I had a bad induction experience personally but it was my first and they do tend to go better for second time mums. Maybe see if they can calculate your Bishop score to make the best decision on whether you want to move forward?
@Allie Thanks so much! They said if it’s gone down at all since yesterday and another blood test Friday that they’ll want to induce, not if it dips below a certain point. I think I’d rather monitor it and induce only if absolutely necessary. Honestly thank you. It’s so hard getting your head around all this stuff when it’s new 🙈
Platelets naturally drop in pregnancy. I have a chronic blood cancer (my bone marrow makes too many platelets) and in both pregnancies we’ve had to decrease my chemotherapy dosage bc my platelets have gone down from like 700s to 300s. Also a drop that tiny (187 to 139) is like nothing. I think if you’re close to due date and you want to move forward with an induction that’s fine but I know a LOT about this particular topic and that’s an absolutely wild reason to induce imo
