How much does your two month old eat?

There is so much mixed information online about how much milk a baby should eat. My 2 month old (11weeks) currently eats 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours. He used to eat 4-5 ounces a few weeks ago but dropped how much he wants.

my little one is the same kinda, feeds every 2-4 hours, one feed she will have 60mls and sleep for 4 hours and the next 180mls and sleep for 3 hours before she wakes up. she’s very bipolar with her feeds but it’s normally 120-180mls every 2-4 hours x

It really depends on your baby my baby when he was 2months old would take 5-6 oz every 2-3 hours. All babies are different!!

Is this formula or breastmilk? Breastmilk you’re looking at 1-1.5oz per hour and not more than 4oz per bottle x

@Yasmin both I combi feed with formula and expressed breast milk.

@Yasmin why is not allowed more than 4oz?

@Yasmin my son was breastfed and drank 5-6oz bottles. Babies are different!

Just a bit worried my baby is 10 weeks and taking 4oz of expressed milk soon he will want more, why is not allowed more?

@Andreea it’s not that they’re not allowed it’s just that breastmilk changes composition as baby gets older unlike formula so they don’t need large volumes of it to get what they need. With formula you have to up the oz to up the nutrition but you don’t with breastmilk as it is tailor made to your baby x

Ohh so if he wants more I can give more! For example he had 4oz expressed bottle and after 20 min he wanted to latch on my bobs he eat some more. I was worried he might not be allowed or something, because GP or midwife never explain or mention it to me!

@Andreea if they’re latching it’s likely for comfort rather than hunger which is really normal after a bottle. They don’t get the same connection from a bottle as they do skin to skin on the breast 😊 Lucy Webber on instagram has some excellent resources you may find helpful!
