Formula suggestions?

Thinking of introducing some formula for my baby who has been fed expressed breast milk for his first five weeks. He was early so struggles to latch on to breast feed for a full feed so I express 8-10 times a day. My partner returns to work soon and I won’t be able to keep that up especially at night while also settling him etc so will likely move him onto formula for some of the feeds, but there are SO many options! What do people use and recommend ?

I was recommended to use Kendamil or Aptamil. I went with Kendamil but my son(5 weeks)is currently going through constipation and I am considering changing the milk. I suppose it’s just a matter of finding what works for your baby

One woman (a mw) told me on a feeding course that all formula is exactly the same as it has to follow EU regulations. So she said get the cheapest. I’ve found cis and gate the cheapest and my little one takes it well.

I started with Sma and now I use Cow & gate. You can probably find Aptamil everywhere though. I saw no issues with Cow & gate, and to add, they have a patented lid that makes closing and opening loads easier. Most brands also have ready milk for travel. Try not to change the brand once you start. Read about road travel with bottles as well, I used to do it wrong. Hope this helps.

Careful if you think about Kendamil - big shortage at the minute which is causing a lot of issues. Personally I'm going to use aptamil. Used with first no issues. But you may need to change depending on how they get on with it anyway.

They are all basically the same. I was told, choose the one you can easily get. Buy what your supermarket sells so you aren't having to travel around to get it. My son had sma and was absolutely fine. My daughter has had cow & gate as that was what my husband could het at 11pm when we desperately needed it (initially we had to top up, and she's only had the ready made bottles)

At the hospital we were given Aptimal but we now use aldis own (mamia). We were also told all formula is pretty much the same as they have to follow guidelines. My boy also get a little breast milk but like you I don’t have the time to express as much as I’d like

I exclusively breastfed for 9 months. I really wanted my daughter to like the European brands but she did not. I gave her baby’s only and after one or two attempts, she finally took well to that brand of formula. She’s 14 months now and has had no issues. Less than a week ago we completely transitioned her from formula to whole milk. She still breast feeds as well. Thank God, we’ve had no issues with formula nor whole milk with her.

Whichever your local supermarket sells so you can run out and grab some if you run out. There is a national shortage of kendamil at the moment and has been for ages. All formula is heavily regulated so all are safe to use and contain the correct ingredients and nutrients xx

Mine is exclusively formula based and we’ve been using Kendamil. He loves it.

We used Hipp formula and my daughter loved it

We used Kendamil with our little boy x
