@Amanda that makes sense, thank you. How often do you pump at work? I just don't know if I'll get the time to pump much, and to be honest I don't really like pumping so I would rather not have to do it loads.
@Beth I pump 3x a day for 20 minutes at a time. It feels like I’m always trying to run away to squeeze my pumping sessions in, but it’s worth it to me to maintain the supply I have.
Hi, I did this with my first. He went to nursery just before 6 months and I went back to teaching. My supply was fine (apart from full boobs the first week or so) and he continued to feed on demand in the morning / eve / weekend. He successfully BF until 14 months x
@Amanda ah thank you! I'm hoping I can get away with just twice a day. We shall see soon though. Thank you!
@Kim thank you! I'm really keen to give it a try x
So I sort of do this. I breastfeed at home and send formula to daycare. But I also pump when I’m away from baby and we give that milk as a supplement too. My supply went a little too low after I returned to work because pumping is not as effective as nursing for me. I was never able to pump as much as he needed for a full day. So since I had to supplement anyway, I just decided to send only formula to daycare so we can use the milk at home and it won’t be wasted. Basically when separated from baby, if you don’t remove milk at the same rate as baby drinks, it will probably impact supply.
