Formula Recs

First time mom to-be, and while I’m planning to breastfeed, I want to have formula on hand in case of any issues. Which do y’all recommend & why?

Yellow or orange enfamil. My baby had an acid reflux issue so that’s why I had orange enfamil but the yellow can was a good way to start

My mom used to work for similac-competitor to enfamil- they are honestly all loaded with crap. If I do have to go the formula route I’m either getting one from the eu or a goats milk based one called Sammy’s

@Lauren yea i see they have a plant base formula i forgot the brand i plan to full time breast feed but i definitely want to have a option just in case thanks for the information

We got a can of Kendamil for this reason to just have on hand. I’m also going to continue working with a LBLC after birth

Does „Aptamil“ exist in the US?

Kendamil

@Monae same.. but if I need to i won’t be using any of these American based brands…our food industry and they crap they allow in stuff here is terrible

@Lauren yep you ain’t lying i definitely wanna find something different

I used kendamil when I stoppped breastfeeding its from UK and was great.

Okay so there’s probably going to be soooo many opinions on baby formula. We had to switch to formula from breastmilk with my first when I got pregnant at 9 months. I did a ton of research and found that ByHeart and Kedamil were generally the cleanest most organic. However I’ve also learned that all formulas for sale go through so much testing and regulations that you’re not going to go wrong. My husbands insurance covered 80% of any enfamil product and we went with the gentalease line without issues. Also good luck with your breastfeeding journey. I highly suggest researching lactation consultants you’ll be able to see post partum! My clinic saved our journey and I absolutely loved it.

@Katie they do undergo that.. but a lot of it is controlled by government and also drug companies ( my mom used to work for similac) they all lobby the government… aka a lot of money exchange for “favors” enfamil and similac are both more commercial brands… to me anything along those lines I would not trust.. The first ingredient in gentlease is corn syrup… which is banned or at least highly regulated in other countries , then followed by vegetable oils and other seed oils… not very good for overall health/ nutrition.. One I’ve heard a lot of good things about is Sammy’s goat milk- if you going to drink milk as a human, goat is best.
