Colostrum

Still struggling to get anything out 😥 Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I’m nervous I’m going to have none as a backup when I go into labour and I’m currently 38+4.

Same here, 39 weeks today. I can get the tiniest drop after trying for like half an hour buts it so small it’s not even worth it. It’s really stressing me out (sorry not much help!)

Try after a shower/bath x

You’re not alone, can’t get any either!

I keep seeing posts like this and I don't understand, what exactly is it that you're all trying to do? I had my first two babies 8+ years ago, now having my third and feel like I'm on another planet 🙈

Like you said it is a back up. Don't stress if you don't have any. I know plenty of people who don't take any at all. If you want to keep trying focus on massage, so get nice and warm either in the shower or after the shower and just massage for a while before attempting any expression techniques. Did your midwife talk you through how to do it or give you a guide? Don't expect to get anything use it as like a preparing/learning what to do.

Thank you! Yeah my midwife explained but just doesn’t seem to be working. I will preserve and try not to let it stress me. Just feeling the pressure I think! X

I started when I hit 36w and it took me 2 hours to get 0.2ml out. Now I'm 36w5, I managed to get 2ml in 2 hours after doing it every single day for at least 2 hours. I'd recommend doing it after a shower when you're first starting. Look at videos online on the various techniques, but also be comfortable to be creative because you'll find different techniques work on different days. There isn't just one technique that always works, which can get frustrating if you're anxious. Massaging the breasts is the best thing, imo. I use extra virgin coconut oil because it's breastfeeding safe, and just massage it into each breast right before I start getting the milk out. The other thing I find helpful is spending about 10-20 minutes on each breast and alternating giving the other one a rest. Tiktok has been the best resource as many midwives show you techniques on there. That's the ultimate tool you can have on your side.

I would try not to worry or put too much pressure on yourself! With my first I didn’t do it at all, It was fine doing it once the baby had arrived x

I'm the same and have been struggling and not managed to get any yet but try not to worry about it , not everyone can or does it it's not a must x

Thanks ladies xxx
