Contractions picked up on monitoring?

Went in for reduced movement today and they monitored me and had a scan. I had mentioned to the midwife I had really bad back ache since this morning on and off. The monitor picked up contractions. As baby is in awkward position the back ache I think is the contractions. She said could just be quite a few braxton hicks rather than the start of anything. Has anyone else had braxton hicks or anything picked up on monitoring? They just said for me to monitor it over next few days. Almost 38 weeks. Last pregnancy when I thought I was having braxton hicks I was actually in latent labour but hoping she doesn’t come this early!!

Yeh my braxton hicks come up on the monitor too! Xx

@Phoebe ah ok that’s reassuring! They worried me a bit the way they phrased it that it may be early labour 🤣

Yes I had braxton hicks picked up wen I went in 4 reduced movements at 36 weeks. Xx

I went in a week ago for reduced movements. Had belly ache all night and tightenings so prompted me to go in! Baby was fine she just moved sides but through tightenings and uncomfortable feelings I couldn’t feel her (I have anterior placenta too). put on monitor tightenings were regular and they said early labour to me. They did me a sweep and said I was 1cm 🤣 so early labour but she did say could be days or weeks still! I was 37+1 when I went in last week!

yeah i’ve been monitored twice both times it picked up tightening that i couldn’t really feel, the first time i was 33 weeks and the level was so high they were really concerned i was in full blown labour and couldn’t tell. Both times its not amounted to anything, it seems strange!

@Leonie where is your back pain? Is it mid or lower? I’ve been having really bad mid back pain, and belly feels really tight near the top, not sure if that’s Braxton hicks or if that pain is in the wrong place

@Alexa mines really low - but baby has been in back to back position which is why I’ve had that they’ve said. Last pregnancy baby was in “correct” position and had no back pain with braxton hicks or in labour at all!

Yeahh my toco reading went up to 50 at one point which I thought was labour but they said it was just the higher end of braxtons

@Natalie omg same. Literally hit 50. I didn't actually no what it was on the monitor until I asked. When she said I'm like oh really didn't feel anything haha

@Kirstie I got all excited thinking "this is it" 😂 nahhhh still nothing 😑

@Natalie lmao yep... I'm still very pregnant 39 weeks Friday grrr lol

I went in this morning and the toco reading was mostly between 5 - 25 which they say is braxton hocks but had a couple shoot up between 40 - 70 and 3 instances of hitting 100 🫣 Midwife said to ignore

@Kirstie I'm having a section next Tuesday, the countdown is on... and I'm still not packed 😂😂😂

Yeh I had this too this week. My braxton hicks hit over 100 on the toco but they said they weren’t concerned and just to come back in if they didn’t go away. Pretty painful for Braxton Hicks though

Yeah mine have been pretty painful yesterday, but they were last pregnancy too so I hadn’t thought anything of it until the midwife said about the readings! Thanks all - has put my mind at rest. I know people are desperate to get baby out but totally not ready for her to come yet 🤣
